Model Overview
The 360 Sundancer, built from 2002 to 2004, is the 340's bigger-engined successor in everything but name: a mid-cabin express cruiser with twin MerCruiser gasoline inboards — the 8.1S Horizon is the signature installation — a forward V-berth, convertible dinette, mid-cabin, and a head with a separate shower. It kept the 340's winning layout and added power and polish. Short production means few were built relative to the 340, and clean examples have a following that keeps good ones from sitting long.
Performance
With the big 8.1s, the 360 is a genuinely quick cruiser — top speed past 35 mph and a cruise in the upper 20s — yet it settles into harbor work with the manners of its sterndrive siblings in spirit, thanks to wide prop spacing and honest low-speed authority. The hull handles bay chop with the planted feel that defines the era, and the cockpit — the biggest single space on the boat — is where life happens from coffee to cocktails.
Buyer Guidance
Manifolds and risers, generator service, and canvas condition — in that order — decide whether a 360 is a bargain. These boats are now twenty years old, so a surveyor's moisture readings on the deck and hull matter as much as the mechanical inspection. Freshwater and lift-kept examples carry a premium and justify it. Check that both engines show matched hours and service, run the air conditioning and vacuflush, and road-test the cockpit seating vinyl for the sun cracking typical of the era. Good 360s sell as fast as good 340s — be ready.
