Accommodations & Layout
The Sabre 42 Flybridge Sedan is a vessel which feels quite a bit larger than her length would otherwise have you believe. Ample space throughout make the 42 flybridge popular for families as well as cruising with guests. The owners of these boats love and enjoy them, so they are not easy to find on the market.
Sabres are known to have excellent sight lines from their helm stations, and they allow for easy enjoyment of the boat underway and when maneuvering in close quarters alike. Starting on the flybridge, she offers separate Stidd helm & mate seats, and a wraparound aft seat to have your family and guests enjoy the flybridge experience. There is storage below the helm structure, as well as storage under the wraparound seating. There is a full bimini overhead to keep you protected too. The upper helm offers full engine instrumentation, a suite of Raymarine electronics including radar, chart plotters, and an autopilot.
Moving from the flybridge to the aft cockpit, you will appreciate the wide steps with secure handrails to assist you in safe passage. Once in the aft cockpit, you have an all-weather entry door which leads into the salon. To port of the entry door, you have a counter, sink, and storage below. Three large cockpit lazarette hatches offer mechanical system access as well as storage for larger items and gear. There is a door in the transom to allow access to the swim platform and dinghy. The dinghy is stored on the swim platform via Sea-Wise davit system which makes it very easy to safely launch, retrieve, and transport it with you while out cruising.
Her wide side decks to the bow mirror each other, and offer secure handholds when moving about. There is a starboard side entry door which leads you in to the lower helm & salon. Coachroof and fore deck are clean and uncluttered. Anchor is secured on an oversized roller, and rode runs through the captive windlass and into a dedicated locker. There is also additional storage on either side of the rode locker, often used for fender storage. Raw water washdown is also present and at-the-ready for those muddy anchor retrievals.
Stepping inside from the cockpit leads you in to the bright and airy main salon. "Waterfront Property" is beautifully appointed with American Cherry, light fabrics, and has a varnished teak & holly sole. As you enter, to starboard there is a comfortable chair aft, entertainment center with storage below, and a hideaway lower helm seat. To port is a large L-shaped settee with storage below, Sabre's Hi-Lo table, and a chart table opposite the lower helm. Sabre always engineers a proper lower helm, so this lower station is well-equipped for commanding the vessel comfortably out of the elements. All of the large windows help to assist with good sight lines too, which make it a comfortable place to operate the boat.
Stepping down a few steps, the vessels main electrical panels are found on your right side. Opposite to port is the large U-shaped galley. Galley space rivals that of larger vessels, and offers double stainless steel sinks, Corian countertops, microwave convection oven, electric range, and a AC/DC refrigerator/freezer. There are a multitude of cabinets to securely store all of your provisions and wares.
Opposite the galley through the double door set is the convertible guest stateroom. Many owners like to have it set up as additional lounge seating, but the space can convert to a larger single berth, or it can be set up in a bunk-berth fashion too. Cedar-lined hanging locker is forward, and there is storage throughout the cabin.
Moving forward, access to the large head with separate shower is to port. Secondary access is via the master stateroom forward. There is an electric-flush toilet, sink, and storage throughout.
The master stateroom is forward, and your eye is immediately met with more beautiful Cherry wood joinery, a large island berth with optional 6" mattress, and an amazing amount of storage to accommodate longer cruises.
Engine room access is via the hatch in the sole next to the lower helm station. There is a ladder on the forward bulkhead which allows for easy ingress/egress. Main engines mirror each other port & starboard, and generator is on centerline on the aft engine room bulkhead.
Please be sure to take a look at the photos and additional information here, and let me know if you have any specific questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
