About This Vessel

This 1987 Morgan 41, measures 41 ft, and is located in Rio Dulce, powered by Yanmar 44.00HP.

ROCKSTEADY is a 1987 Morgan Classic 41, the Catalina-era refinement of Charles Morgan’s celebrated Out Island 41. Built after Catalina acquired Morgan Yachts, she keeps the protective center cockpit and generous living volume that made the design a Caribbean favorite, while the Classic’s longer fin keel and skeg-hung rudder deliver sharper sailing manners than the earlier full-keel Out Islands. About 150 Classics were produced from 1986 to 1991.Factory figures put overall length near 41 feet 3 inches, beam about 13 feet 10 inches, draft roughly 4 feet 10 inches, and displacement around 23,000 pounds with about 8,500 pounds of ballast. The masthead sloop carries on the order of 780 square feet of sail—a moderate-displacement cruiser suited to coastal and bluewater work, with draft that still reaches skinny tropical anchorages. She is offered from a freshwater mooring in Rio Dulce, Guatemala. Auxiliary power is a Yanmar diesel of about 44 horsepower with roughly 3,200 hours, shaft drive, and a switchable dual fuel-filter system. Tankage on this hull is listed near 302 liters of diesel, 454 liters of fresh water, and a 150-liter holding tank.Below, the center-cockpit layout offers three cabins, two heads, and berths for four to six, with about two meters of headroom. A bright salon and dinette, forward V-berth, and private aft cabin give a couple or small family real separation under way. The galley carries a gimbaled stove and oven, microwave, and refrigeration with freezer capacity. Raymarine electronics, autopilot, GPS, chartplotter, radar, AIS, VHF, and wind and depth instruments support marina nights and remote anchoring. Roller-furling headsail gear and a mix of manual and electric winches keep sail handling manageable short-handed; the sails are described as very good working canvas.Recent systems work leans into energy independence. House power is a pair of 300 Ah LiFePO4 banks replacing older flooded batteries, charged by two 450-watt solar panels on a new stern arch through Victron regulators, with a battery monitor and Victron DC-to-DC charger to top the lithium bank while motoring. A separate lead-acid starter battery and a dedicated bow battery for the windlass keep loads cleanly split. Shore power, inverter, pressurized hot water, bimini, sprayhood, and a wind generator round out the plant.Structurally, the encapsulated keel means no external keel bolts to worry about, and external chainplates remain open to inspection rather than buried in glass. The bottom was taken to gelcoat, given two barrier coats, and finished with four coats of Coppercoat, with no osmosis reported. Center-cockpit security, proven Morgan construction, and a thoughtfully updated electrical plant make ROCKSTEADY a serious candidate for a couple or small family ready to cruise Central America, the Western Caribbean, or beyond without a long shipyard wish list before the first overnight passage.Equipment highlights: Yanmar ~44 hp (~3,200 hrs) with dual fuel filters; 2×300 Ah LiFePO4; 2×450 W Victron-managed solar and DC-to-DC charging; wind generator; windlass with dedicated battery; Raymarine suite (autopilot, GPS/chartplotter, radar, AIS, VHF); roller-furling jib and very good sails; three cabins, two heads; gimbaled stove/oven, microwave, fridge/freezer; encapsulated keel, external chainplates, Coppercoat bottom; freshwater berth, Rio Dulce, Guatemala.DisclaimerThe Company offers the details of this vessel in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel.
