Construction of this 55' classic twin-masted schooner began in 1931 in the Guillon Frères shipyard in the Anse du Pharo in Marseille, France. She was launched in April, 1930, and for the next 50 years sailed throughout the Mediterranean Sea under various owners (4-5) and under several different names. She was purchased in 1981 in Jávea, Spain, unfortunately in a state of significant disrepair.In 1983, the boat was moved to the Somme Estuary in northern France by land transport, to be completely rebuilt from the keel up. The rebuild took about four years and preserved only the original 8.5-ton cast iron keel, 10 bronze portholes, the doors to the salon and the forward quarters, and about 20% of the above-water planking.The hull was relaunched in December of 1986, the masts were stepped in May of 1987, and with cabinetry and mechanical systems added, the final completion was marked in August of 1987. She then sailed to Boulogne-sur-Mer, where Maritime Affairs awarded her a 1st Category Certification.
