The Ocean 70 Super Sport was the largest and most luxurious model in the company’s history when she was introduced in 2000. She’s built on a very beamy 19'8" modified-V hull with prop pockets (to reduce draft) and more transom deadrise (for a softer ride) than previous Ocean designs. The lavish four-stateroom, four-head floorplan of the 70 SS is arranged with the full-beam master stateroom aft, under the galley and dinette area, with ensuite head with bathtub. This is similar to the layouts found in most all of Ocean’s later models. A VIP stateroom is in the forepeak, and a utility room with a washer/dryer and freezer is located between the master stateroom and the second guest cabin. Crew quarters with bunks is to starboard at the base of the steps down from the galley and dinette. The VIP, Guest and Crew quarters all have ensuite heads with separate stall showers. The large salon has three very plush couches with storage underneath and a new custom high gloss table with storage. The galley forward and to port has full size appliances, including side by side refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, stove and microwave oven. To the starboard side is the dinette with a high gloss table and room to seat six adults. In a practical design touch, the enclosed flybridge, with a full complement of new Garmin electronics, recovered Stidd Helm and Double Companion Seats, L-Shaped aft seating with large table and waterfall chairs and wetbar with icemaker, refrigerator and drink dispenser, is reached from either the cockpit ladder or the easily climbed steps from the salon. Aft of the enclosed flybridge, you'll find an aft helm station as well as rear facing seating overlooking the cockpit and a center ladder to ascend to the tuna tower. A custom mezzanine overlooks the 150 square foot cockpit. The mezzanine seating area contains both storage and refrigerated compartments with all new custom cushions. The cockpit has many fishing amenities, including two large insulated fishboxes (1 with an ice chipper) and a transom livewell, offset fighting chair, as well as easy access to steering gear through a large deck hatch. An excellent performer, 1,400hp Cats cruise at 25 knots at 1,950 RPMs (32–33 knots top).
