Superyacht Overview
A superyacht is generally a professionally crewed yacht of 80 feet (about 24 meters) and up — the point where volume, systems and range change character: full-beam owner's suites, separate crew quarters, commercial-grade engineering, and the ability to cruise oceans rather than coastlines. Buying used is how most owners enter the class. The first owner absorbs the steepest depreciation and the multi-year build wait, while a well-kept yacht five to fifteen years old delivers the same volume and pedigree at a fraction of replacement cost — available now, not after a three-year build slot. Neff Yacht Sales lists 728 yachts at 80 feet and up, 387 of them over 100 feet, from builders including Feadship, Oceanco, Azimut, Ferretti, Ocean Alexander, Sunseeker and Princess — one of the deepest large-yacht inventories of any US brokerage, searchable from one page.

Buyer Guidance
Three things decide whether a used superyacht is a good buy. First, the survey: at this size you want a full out-of-water survey plus separate engine, generator and rigging inspections, and a hard look at service records — a yacht with complete, documented maintenance history is worth a premium over an identical boat without one. Second, crew: most yachts over 80 feet need at least a captain and mate, and over 100 feet typically a crew of three to five; confirm the yacht's layout genuinely supports the crew size her cruising program requires. Third, running costs: a working rule is to budget annually around 10% of the yacht's value for crew, dockage, insurance, maintenance and fuel — the bigger the yacht, the more that number is driven by crew and refit cycles rather than fuel. Neff Yacht Sales walks buyers through all three before an offer is written, and can coordinate surveyors, maritime attorneys and crew placement through closing and delivery, anywhere in the US or worldwide.
